Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant drug that occurs in nature as a part of coffee, tea, soda, etc. it is also an additive in many other food products, most notably beverages such as energy drinks. It is also added in soda as a flavoring agent. Regular use of products rich in caffeine or caffeine containing products may cause some sort of physical dependence but doesn’t threaten your physical, social, or economic health as addictive drugs do. It is true that regular uses may make you dependent on the drug and may show some symptoms of addiction but it is not that harmful and difficult to get rid of the addiction.
People take caffeine mostly in the form of coffee to boost them during time of work and to stay active. Someone who is a regular consumer of coffee or caffeine products may have certain problems but it is not as difficult to recover as it is in case of cocaine or other addictive drugs obviously. There are certain withdrawal symptoms that can tell you that you are getting addicted to caffeine and needs to lower the intake of caffeine rich products in order to safeguard your health.
Headache – A headache caused by caffeine usually starts behind the eyes and then moves up to the front of the head.
Irritability – Over dose of caffeine may cause irritability and you may get anything and everything on your nerves.
Lethargy – Your body activity is reduced and you’re always tired and it also reduces your productivity.
Depression – Caffeine helps your mood to stay calm and when you skip it one day you get those vibes that puts you in distress.
Muscle Pain, Stiffness, Cramping – Having caffeine prior to exercise is not advised as once you stop taking it you may get cramps in your muscles after exercise.
Lack Of Concentration – Once you withdraw yourself from caffeine then you may find it hard to concentrate on anything.
Insomnia – Many people actually can’t sleep.
Nausea And Puking – You may not feel like eating anything during the first few days.
Anxiety – In some cases anxiety and panic attacks may occur.
Dizziness – Some people may lose their equilibrium that is caused by caffeine withdrawal.
Heart Rhythm Abnormality – You may experience your heartbeat slowing down or going to fast which is not a good sign.
As it is suggested that excess of anything is not good, so coffee or caffeine is a good thing but you need to limit everything to a certain level so as not to get addicted. Don’t take anything too much as you may get addicted to it and may find it difficult to leave.
